Peyton Chiang is a Taiwanese American artist working primarily in sculpture, performance, and installation. His work currently explores how ancestral knowledges are embedded in cultural, commercial, and political infrastructures. His work has been exhibited at the Moody Center for the Arts, CAAC Gallery 456, Waley Art, L’appartment49c, Sleepy Cyborg Gallery, and The Eldorado Ballroom.

For the past two years, the duration of my MFA, I committed to a sustained investigation into my mother's adage that if I worked hard in school, my eyebrows would grow fuller and darker. Every month, I crafted a new set of eyebrows, documented myself with them in front of a school photo backdrop, and then sent the photo to my mother. Initially intrigued by the humor and absurdity of this myth, through this continued practice, I now understand it as one of many intergenerational practices from my ancestors, who continue to deliver their wisdom and protection to me in the present.
